A special wine dinner featuring Château Mercian
Kozue is delighted to announce a special winemaker dinner, in collaboration with Château Mercian. A beacon of innovation, this brand is also known for its history and its distinguished position in the industry as one of Japan’s leaders.
Surging ahead as a pioneer in the Japanese wine industry, Château Mercian can trace its origins all the way back to the late 19th century where in its earliest incarnation was Japan’s first private wine company. Throughout its illustrious history, it has reached milestones previously unheard of for Japanese wineries, revolutionizing the image of Koshu grapes and domestically produced wine.
After finding an area with soil suitable for cultivating high quality grapes, Château Mercian opened Mariko Winery in Nagano prefecture in 2003. Building on its humble beginnings, the winery has gone on to expand its cultivation, and has produced wines that have been internationally recognized.
As it continues to set the standard for Japanese wine, it is with great pleasure that we invite winemaker and General Manager of Château Mercian, Hironori Matsuo who will share the story of the winery while guests savor five varieties of wine. Kozue’s Chef de Cuisine, Nobuhiro Yoshida, will be offering a menu that highlights the pairing capabilities of Château Mercian’s approachable yet elegant wines. Embark on a culinary journey and enjoy to your heart’s content at Park Hyatt Tokyo.
